While women rights are still a matter of discussion here and freedom of speech is the freedom of what they want you to say. While we are swimming in a sea of problems environmental economical social and political, somewhere over the rainbow way up high in finland "every citizen has the legal right to a 1Mbps broadband connection, meaning that providers are now required to make the connections available to everyone." engadget

el-vanet (2)

The following story actually happened with me 5 years ago. I was waiting for a van, and one passed by. It kept moving until I couldn't recognize the numbers on its license plates. I said to myself, no problem fi ghayro, so I waited for another one. Without notice, I was hit from behind, and brought to the ground. Yes, it was that distant Van. 2alle: tale3? iltillo: la2, ma sheyefne 3am ikdosh el2ared?

Another time and in the same location, i was a live witness to an extraterrestrial event. Tlo3et bi van w mshina shi 20 meters la ytalle3 wa7ad teni, bi2oum byiji van teni w bishekk 3layna w byekhod elzboun. Fa sar yzammer haydek w y3ayyet w ysabseb... Until his rage went to a place no rage has went before. Da3as benzin w darab elvan yall iddemo. Till here no surprise, common day stuff. Now i thought the other should get off his van and beat the crap out of the guy of the van I'm in. On the contrary, he kept calm, switched on "Reverse" and re-hit our van, ktir cool kenet el3amaliyye. The funny part, my van's driver didn't react, since he most probably felt stupid hitting him in the first place, and knew what an ash he made out of himself.

government supports sports

between the rebroadcasting rights for the world cup and buying our participation in the basketball world championship, we spent 1.2 million dollars (i know the prime minister paid the 500k for basketball from his own pocket) just for the sake of arguing let us see what could the government do with such a number...
-steal the money
-pay 3000 employee minimum wage($400)
-60000 tanket benzin at price of $20 dollar each
-1.2 million rabtit kobez
-road maintenance
-improve our football and basketball leagues
-buy a 20m^2 1st floor flat in beirut

it is not like it is the first time the government wastes money. They are pros at this actually it is all they do. 1.2 million dollars is a lot of money to spend recklessly.

ad by the ministry of tourism

I heard our minster of tourism talk about the budget for advertising lebanon and the tourism industry abroad and how it is really low compared to other arab countries. I wanted to help so i came up with an advertisement idea.Just imagine the setting and the music for yourself since our blog (for now) has no pics or music. The voice over goes something like this...In a world filled with greed and no guarantees. In a world of violence wars woes and uncertainty. The next time you think of place to run away to from all of this, think of lebanon and remember that the only assured thing in the whole world is that each day in lebanon fee te2nin.

3ada 2ilaykom min jadid (2)

Great post days, I'd like to add one thing to it:

-Ever noticed our football fields (or in modern Lebanese: male3eb elfatbol), they have some grass, yes, but only on the sides. This is because all players run together only on the midfield (We don't play on the wings, kick ash Lebanese strategy).
---------------------------
-
I'd like to talk about the current flag phenomenon in Lebanon, 2 words: "We're Crazy". No other country does that !! Not even the ones playing in the world cup !! Come on people, a Falafel sandwich is more of a benefit than a flag.
I once saw a car having 4 flags, for 4 different countries, maybe he thinks he's the United Nations (UN). I bet you saw similar phenomena, feel free to share the
m with us.

3ada 2ilaykom min jadid

It is world cup time and the football hype is all over the place. I figured this post should be related to football. I was and still am a big fan of captain majed*(and I think anyone who likes football should also be a fan). Also when I was a child I used to follow the lebanese football league and was a fan of a certain team. If you remember any captain majed episode you will remember how comical and how unrealistic it was and coincidentally if have seen any football game in lebanon you will notice the striking similarities between our football game and style and captin majed's. Here are some similarities:

-even now our football style is similar to the style used in the 70's and 80's (captain majed was produced in the 80's I guess)

-captain majed and his teammates always run up a hill in football field. Our fields also have many hills

-it always took captain majed's team about half an episode + commercials to reach the other side of the field. Same thing with our teams

-just like captain majed, in our teams only one player was the star and always had the ball

-referees were obsolete any you rarely saw them

-the acting and the drama that occurs whenever a player is injured(this actually happens everywhere)

-during an episode you only see a handful of team supporters(although the stands were packed). At an average lebanese football game you also saw a handful of supporters if any(before the baning the fans from the stands ).

-“game” commentator sucks

If you have noticed any other similarities please feel free to share them.

*for any one who doesn't know, captain majed was a japanese animated series(dubbed in arabic) about a football star known as captain majed

they all are the same

It is well known to everyone that beirut suffers from social class differences. You have areas where the rich tend to live and other areas where people with economical difficulties live. If you walk around the streets in the rich areas you might step on dog feces or smell dog urine, you will be pissed but you carry on with your life. The same thing can also happen on a street in a "poor" area only the difference is that the thing you stepped on might be human feces and the thing you smelled is human urine now you will be more angry, start cursing and start calling people ignorant stupid and anything that comes on your mind. Let me tell you a thing feces are feces are feces, they all smell as bad. Let me add a thing while it is actually ignorant stupid and anything that comes on your mind for people to answer the call of nature on the street, it is just as bad ignorant stupid and anything that comes on your mind for people to leave their dog's feces on the street without cleaning them.
